Wow! This movie is amazing! WALL-E is one of the best movies that Pixar has ever made, and that’s saying a lot. WALL-E is just fantastic. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it, it’s one of those rare movies that is, literally, too good to be true. WALL-E is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Period.
Like I said, WALL-E is one of the best Pixar films. It’s every bit as good as Ratatouille and is even right up there with the Toy Story films. By this point you would expect a movie studio to be running out of steam, but somehow Pixar is able to keep delivering one classic after another.
Most animated movies always seem to care too much about what big name actors they can get to help sell their movies. WALL-E does the complete opposite, there is no spoken dialogue for around the first hour (except for a few holograms that help tell the story). Think 2001: A Space Odyssey, but cuter. WALL-E himself only speaks through computerized sounds, but you are still able to tell exactly what he is feeling.
WALL-E is also one of the cutest, most endearing animated characters in history. He’s kind of like Johnny 5, R2D2 and Nintendo’s R.O.B all rolled into one. He is able to express a lot of emotion without saying a word. It’s kind of ironic that a robot who doesn’t talk can show more emotions than most other movie characters, animated or otherwise.
WALL-E also has probably the most endearing story I have seen in a good long time. It’s actually a love story between WALL-E and another (more advanced) robot named EVE. But its not a cheesy romance movie or anything, its actually pretty touching, one of the most heartfelt stories I have ever seen.
Everything comes together in this movie. The story, the characters, the animation, everything! There is a little bit of an environmental theme, but it is secondary to the love story and never feels preachy, unlike the highly overrated Happy Feet which beat you over the head with its message.
Of course there are plenty of Pixar trademarks to be found hidden in the movie. The Pizza Planet truck, some Toy Story…Toys, and of course, the ever present John Ratzenberger. It helps add just that much more fun to the movie.
Director Andrew Stanton not only equaled his own Finding Nemo with WALL-E, he surpassed it. Pixar’s next film, Up, has a lot to live up to. WALL-E is nothing short of spectacular. It’s brilliant, genius, artful, beautiful, awe-inspiring and aww-inducing. WALL-E is pure magic (thats cheesy I know but its true), it’s everything that a movie should be. WALL-E is awesome!
A masterpiece.
